Flying simulators & similar themed games have always been either great or not-so great on the iOS platform. So as I was gearing up for testing the Phoenix bird app, I wasn’t entirely sure of what exactly to expect…

The initial presentation of the game gives off a good vibe of what to expect, with a crisp & clear presentation along with nicely rendered graphics. In a nutshell, the aim of the game is to guide the Phoenix through the hoops, while collecting as many gems as you can on the way. Now I am a fan of any game that uses the accelerometer for movement or steering and I was delighted that Phoenix Bird fully incorporates this.

One thing not to ignore while playing this game is the great efforts that have been applied in the background scenery. As you progress through the game & unlock more levels, you’ll experience the following landmarks: The Taj Mahal (India), Buckingham Palace (England), The Colosseum (Italy), Alaska Range, Sydney Opera House, Nassau (The Bahamas) & the Statue of Liberty.

This game will certainly appeal to many with its ease of use & soothing presentation. A great effort!

Time for some serious labour-intensive juice production with Juice Factory for iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad! The aim of the game is to produce, pack & ship as much juice as possible (you’ll be in your own virtual factory). “That seems easy” I hear you say… well it sure isn’t, especially due to the fact that you have a very grumpy supervisor! With his grumpy personality & menacing facial hair, he really is the supervisor from hell!

The game comes with a classic game mode – with three different levels (easy, medium & hard) and also arcade mode which has even more exciting features. OpenFeint leaderboards & achievements add a nice touch, but my favorite part of the game is the fact that you are able to buy your supervisor a “beauty” magazine to make him happier, thus reducing your workload!

Time to get jumping with Joy Jump for iPhone & iPod Touch! The first impression I got from this game was a very pleasant appearance along with a fun theme – well suited for children (and adults like me who have yet to grow up!).

Using your device’s tilt abilities, prepare to jump your way through 8 beautifully rendered worlds, while coming across various objects such as rockets, birds, kites & springs – to help you jump higher… but keep an eye out for those naughty ninjas, boo birds & giant hamburgers – who only want to ruin your jumping  journey!

Great light hearted fun while pleasantly addictive at the same time!
