Having the ability to access your computer from a remote location is now a reality for us iOS users, as this free Universal app is now available for iPad, iPhone & iPod Touch.

This is a great option to have, as having such an ability is always a huge benefit for many of us when we need to access certain documents, media, general info etc… While the app is free there is the added option of its in-app purchases, these will give you the added luxury of upgrading to HD video streaming & remote printing – amongst many other features. A great simple layout that’s fairly easy to set-up & is ideally suited for both business & personal use.

Vlingo – Voice App

Vlingo has come to the rescue for all us folk with older iOS devices! It certainly doesn’t compare to the likes of Siri Assistant, but it sure is a nifty little app that many of us will enjoy using & find of good use. The speech recognition works really well & gives you the ability to text, email, search maps, update your Facebook status, search the web & voice dial – all at the command of your voice. The app has simple step-by-step instructions on how to do these various commands to help you get started. Again, a great idea & very handy app – not forgetting it’s also free!

Wake N Shake

Being a heavy sleeper, I have had more than enough instances over recent years where I have slept through morning alarm calls. Most occasions I find myself hitting the snooze button a dozen or so times. Wake N Shake brings a fresh & unique approach as an iPhone/iPod Touch alarm clock, the most notable feature being the challenge of quite literally shaking the hell out of your device (shake intensity can be altered for us weaker folks)! – once the shake-o-meter is full the alarm will stop. The app has a selection of very funny alarm sound effects to choose from, they are cleverly designed to increasingly become rather annoying, giving you much good reason to shake your device rather hard. Not only can you set general alarms, but also you have the ability to set alarms for when you want to take a nap. Overall, this is an app that everyone should have on their device.

Christmas Backgrounds

Time for you to pimp up your iPhone/iPod Touch for the Holiday season! Christmas Backgrounds is a free app that will allow you to change your devices background with a festive replacement – there are many templates to choose from. Initially you will need to select your preferred background template, upon confirming your choice the template will be saved as an image in your camera roll. To set the background you will need to go into your devices settings, select Wallpaper, then select camera roll a choose the saved image – it’s pretty straight forward from here onwards. A useful free app that adds a “Christmassy tang” to your device!

US Holidays 2010-2012

If you’re wanting to keep up to date with all the annual holidays & occasions but just haven’t got the time to manually enter them into your iPod Touch/iPhone calender – this is the app for you. The US Holidays 2010-2012 app will give you the ability to select and insert upcoming US holiday dates into your devices native calender, these dates can be selected based on different religions or different countries (should of named the app ‘International Holidays 2010-2012′!). Certainly an app that most of us will find useful.

Firefox Home

A very useful app from the Mozilla Corporation. With Firefox Home you’ll be able to access all your favorite Firefox bookmarks, open tabs and history in the palm of your hand. To make this work, you must (either before or or straight after you download this app) download and install the Firefox Sync add-on to your computer’s Firefox browser – you will need to choose a username & secret word/phrase. Once this has been done you can set-up the app using your user information and now you’re all ready to go. The app works very well and is very conveniant for those of us who are frequently requiring access to a huge database of bookmarked & previously visited sites.

Tranquility pro

Some of us just can’t get enough relaxation in life! Tranquility pro is full of relaxing sounds to help you wind down after a stressful day. Once you have this app active, you’ll be able to sit back and listen to the sounds of the waves, rare African birds and…….. horses hooves….? Well I think I’d personally skip on the last one, but apparently this app will get you to sleep within just 5 minutes. Suitable for all of us stress addicts out there (we know who we are!).

Super Shopper

Super Shopper acts as a shopping list application – but that’s not all, as it can also be used as a home stock manager.  The app includes more than 50 articles/products accompanied with relevant pictures, each of these is calculated for how many days you have left in stock. You can customise or add notes to the articles if you wish. You can automatically create your shopping lists by just simply shaking your iPod Touch or iPhone. A great app for all you organised shoppers (definitely not me)!

Tue Due

Having somewhere where we can set to-do lists can be very useful at times, for some this is necessary on a daily basis. The Tue Due app is a straight forward and easy-to-use program, you have the ability to customize your to-do lists to your requirements – this includes: setting due dates, adding tags &/or notes and the option to email or share your to-do lists. Rather than being too complicated, this app would make a good choice for anyone wanting a hassle-free & smooth running task manager.

Being able to purchase an app at a discounted price is well worth the effort, there are many deals on offer and with so many apps available, it’s worth checking these offers on a day-to-day basis. This app saves you the hassle of spending hours scouring through the app store for the latest discounts.
